Lissy Trullie
Words by Sean Williams
Lissy Trullie is like a modern-day Edie Sedgwick, stalking New York’s underground with her supermodel looks and inexorable 60s chic. She also makes some sublimely slick pop-punk, channelling trans-Atlantic gods like Television and the Velvet Underground to create catchy, rip-roaring rock n’ roll. It’s a wonder her relentless cover of Hot Chip’s Ready for the Floor hasn’t become more than a Chinese whisper across the pond – Lissy is a Big Apple bombshell waiting in the wings.
DH: What are your musical influences?
LT: I keep my ears open always… Even songs I hate could have something that I think is amazing.
DH: What do you think about music today?
LT:I think there’s a lot of good music going on. I’m not one of those people who are too nostalgic to appreciate now.
DH: What’s your favourite track ever?
LT: That’s an impossible question to answer!!
DH: Who should be made President?
LT: I think we’ve elected a pretty good man.
DH: What’s your favourite food?
LT: Chicken fingers and Swedish fish.
DH: Disco or grimey gig?
LT: Grimey.
DH: How would you describe your music?
LT: No bullshit.
DH: What is necessary for a great night out?
LT: Good music, homies, and no haters.
DH: What’s the worst job you’ve had?
LT: I was a janitor. Enough said.
